Overview
The Titan Booking Engine project was a conceptual initiative aimed at reimagining the end-to-end travel booking experience. I led the effort across multiple disciplines—from user journey mapping and interface design to research, crafting a seamless, accessible, and responsive booking flow for web and mobile platforms.
Problem
Booking travel online often feels fragmented. Users are overwhelmed by cluttered flows, inconsistent UI patterns, and lack of clear feedback at critical stages (e.g., payment). The goal of this project was to redesign the Titan Booking Engine with a focus on clarity, accessibility, and system coherence.
Approach
1. Journey Mapping & Flow Design
To understand and streamline the user experience:
-
Developed detailed Box Flows for key stages: Basket → Personal Details → Payment → Thank You.
-
Combined flows to reveal system-wide pain points and ensure seamless transitions between steps.
-
Designed responsive visual flows for Desktop, Tablet, and Mobile, ensuring adaptability across viewports.
-
Maintained clear layer structures and naming conventions in Figma for ease of collaboration and handoff.
2. UX Research & Analysis
-
Conducted competitive benchmarking with best-in-class travel platforms (e.g., Expedia, Kayak).
-
Applied Baymard Institute UX guidelines to evaluate form design, checkout patterns, and accessibility.
-
Mapped real-world user behaviour and technical constraints to inform key decisions.
3. UI Design & Concept Development
-
Explored multiple UI directions—especially for the complex Flights Module—testing layout variations, information density, and progressive disclosure.
-
Archived all design explorations to preserve decision-making context and evolution.
-
Built interactive prototypes to simulate browser behaviour and evaluate UI responsiveness.
4. Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration
- Collaborated with developers and stakeholders to ensure the technical feasibility of designs.
5. Design System Thinking
-
Integrated new components into the existing design system, maintaining visual and functional consistency.
-
Documented updates and component guidelines for cross-team alignment and reuse.
Key Outcomes
-
Streamlined booking flow that reduces cognitive load and aligns with mental models.
-
Responsive prototypes demonstrating consistent usability across breakpoints.
-
Improved accessibility patterns that elevate the user experience for all audiences.
- Discoveries Revise the design based on available data and technological constraints
Reflection
Though conceptual, this project deepened my skills in systems thinking, responsive design, and end-to-end UX strategy. It reaffirmed the value of rigorous research, strong documentation, and multi-disciplinary collaboration in creating user-centred digital products.
